In an article on the car sharing industry, The Wall Street Journal named Mint as one of New York's top three competitors. The article detailed the future zoning plans of the City Planning Committee. It said that as an act to promote car sharing, the city plans to expand its parking availability. Car sharing, according to planning commissioner, Amanda Burden, "could revolutionize the desire to own a car in New York CIty." The plan hopes to allot 40% of all public parking spaces and 20% of all residential parking garages in New York to car shared vehicles. This adjustment is promised to benefit the top car sharing companies including Mint.
